About a month ago I dyed my hair for the first time in foreverrr! No, actually it was just my first time, but I just had to put the forever part because y'know FROZEN <3 Anyway, back to the point! My mom finally agreed to letting me dye my hair so I went with honey blonde. It was really pretty. I loved it, but then... My mom was all like "But it's kind of a lot of color, I wasn't expecting that" I and I was all "But, mom! diwnjwdnbikjqq!" In the end I toned down the color some with Senna. Senna is a natural tea that comes from, um, well I don't know exactly were it comes from. Anyway, it's really good for your hair! Now how do I tone down the color of my hair with a natural tea?
Here's how to do it:
1. Boil a cup of water
2. Put one tablespoon of the Senna leaves in the tea and let it set for about a 1/2 hour
3. Strain the leaves from the tea with a metal strainer.
For this step you have two options
a. You can pour the tea into a spray bottle and spray the tea in your hair and let it set in your hair for no less than 1/2 hour.
b. When you're washing your hair (I prefer to do this part in the shower because it's less messy) pour the tea into your hair and make sure to get it all through out.
5. Wash it out. Make sure to wash it out with shampoo or conditioner because you might have little bits and pieces of the tea leaves in your hair. But, that depends on your strainer.
And here are some benefits of Senna tea!
Strong hair
Great conditioner
Natural highlighter
Shiny, silky hair
and so much more, but this post would be way too long if I continued!
Now lets get back to the point!
How did I lighten my hair with peroxide?
Here's what you'll need:
Hydrogen Peroxide
Shampoo
Baking soda
A small container
And if your just doing highlights you'll need some strips of aluminum foil
Here's how to do it:
Right here I was just doing one highlight in my sisters hair, so I only used a little bit. So here we're going to be measuring it according to this amount. It's about 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide.
And then I added in about 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Be sure to mix this together really well.
After you mixed the baking soda with the peroxide add in the same amount of shampoo as you did peroxide and baking soda. For me that would be about 2 tablespoons. After you mix the shampoo with the baking soda/peroxide mixture you should have a slimy, gooey consistency. You could lather it all in your hair or you could just do a couple of highlights and close them up with the aluminum foil. I usually leave mine in for an hour and it comes out to be about 2 shades lighter than my actual hair color. So if you want it to be one shade lighter than your natural hair color you would leave it in for a 1/2 hour, but it won't be that noticeable. I'm really glad that I learned how to lighten my hair naturally this way (I've been trying to lighten everyone's hair now XD).
