The Time Has Come

Okay so you may find it weird that i'm blogging about periods, but it just so happened that my time of the month has just come and i'm writing up this blog post balled up on my couch with a pillow pressed against my stomach. I just feel the need to let out all of my anger, because I know that there are others out there who understand what i'm going through. So, i'm going to have to go through this every single month for the next, I don't know, thirty years at the least? Wow. All I can say is wow.
Anyway, I thought I'd tell you guys about the things I like to do to feel better when i'm feeling like hundreds of tiny ninjas are killing me from the inside.

N U M B E R 1:
WATCHING YOUTUBERS

I love to watch YouTubers whenever I feel like I just need a break from everything, like, to distract me from what i'm actually feeling (in this case, the tiny ninjas in my belly). These people make me laugh so hard, like I could literally sit and watch YouTubers all day. I would list my favorites, but I think i'm gonna have to save that for another post because the list is way too long. In case you were wondering, this here is Superwoman and she's one of the funniest females on YouTube (that I know of) so, yeah you should check out her channel. Also Vine! I love Vine omg, you will find the funniest things on Vine. If you don't have that app on your phone you need to get it now

N U M B E R 2:
EATING

I think we can all relate to this gif. And is that Demi Lovato? I can't tell. Anyway, because I wasn't expecting my period to come so soon I was wondering why I was craving everything yesterday. I literally was eating everything in sight, anything I could find. If someone took an eye off of their food for thirty seconds I would assume that they didn't want it anymore, and I would eat it. And then well... Niagara falls...and everything made sense.

N U M B E R 3:
HEATING PAD IS BAE

I took some pain killers as soon as I woke up this morning because once upon a time my very intelligent aunt taught me something that changed my life. She said "don't wait, because it will just get worse. It won't get better." Ever since that day I've taken those pain killers as soon as I started to feel the cramps. I think a lot of people (or maybe it's just me) don't realize that you need to do  something about it right away! It wont get better, don't think for a second that your uterus will have some mercy because it won't. You have to take those pills or use a heating pad to calm it down. It's like a wild animal that needs to be tamed and the pain killers are the tranquilizers. You get me? So, what I originally planned to say is, if pain killers don't work then try the heating pad. 99 times out of 100 the heating pad has worked for me, so it should work for you too.

N U M B E R 4:
TEA HELPS

I've been drinking tea to relieve me of my cramp pain since day one and it does help. Not as much as heating pads, but it helps. I think it helps the blood flow/circulation in the cramp area or something like that (honestly I don't know). Just try drinking some tea if nothing else is working for you and let me know if it helped.

N U M B E R 5:
PILLOWS ARE YOUR BEST FRIENDS

I've been sitting here for about two hours now and I still have this pillow squashed into my stomach. I think it does help like, suppress the pain or something like that. I hate not having a pillow to hold when i'm in serious pain like this. So you know i'm on my period when I have my face smashed into my bed and i'm holding a pillow to my stomach whining "nooo. I hate this." Those are the only words you'll get out of me during the first two days. It's like torture. Thumbs up this post if you agree.

N U M B E R 6:
PAINT YOUR NAILS

Yes, those are my actual nails believe it, honey. Haha, ever since I've been using that shea butter instead of boring Jergens (no offence Jergens, you're awesome) my nails have been growing so fast and healthy. Before, my nails would always break and chip and they would hardly ever grow. So, I think you should definitely try out some shea butter if you're trying to grow your nails out to be strong and healthy. Just click the word shea butter and it should take you to an Amazon page to check it out and purchase it if you're interested. I started to see results after just one week of using it. I would moisturize my hands with it whenever they felt dry. And now since it's close to winter and the air is really dry, this is the perfect time to try it out. Anyway, back to the point! I love to paint my nails whenever i'm on my period it's like one of the only things that will make me feel happy/better during my time of month (other than food and YouTube). So I think that's about it. Be sure to let me know what you like to do to feel better during this terrible time of the month in the comments below or

Chevron Nail Art Tutorial

One of the last videos I did was a tutorial on how to create the chevron nail look. I already have a video tutorial for this, but I thought I'd do a picture tutorial too, because some people might find picture tutorials easier to follow. This is a super easy nail art tutorial, definitely one of my favorites! So let's get started. (Btw that orange stuff on my sister's palm is henna haha)

Step 1: Base Coat

So because it's fall I thought i'd do an orange base color. I applied two coats because I want the colors to stand out and look really opaque. So just paint on your base color and let it dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Step 2: Half V

Using your second color, clean the nail polish brush on the bottle to make sure there isn't any big globs of polish on it. Carefully lean the brush on the side of your nail and paint a half V, do the same to the other side so it will look like a V shape as shown in the picture above. Do the same with the third color, so it will look like this

Step 3: Lock it in
After you painted on your second V, paint on a third one with your base coat and it should look like the picture above. Once the the V is completely dry, seal in the design with a clear top coat and you're all done! I hope you try out this super easy nail design, if you do be sure to tweet/instagram me your pics with the #asdoc

Elsa is Coming

Get out your jackets and your beanies because winter is almost here! Finally. I've been waiting for winter since June! I think it’s because I really love eggnog, like, you don’t understand. And also hot chocolate. I love anything chocolate. Once I made this Nutella coffee, I got the idea from my friend. She told me about her friend’s hazelnut coffee and I wanted some so badly that I just dumped a tablespoon of Nutella in my coffee and it was actually pretty good. Other than the fact that the Nutella hardly melted at all, so I had these big clumps of Nutella in my coffee, but I didn't mind. I think the key to making Nutella coffee is to boil the coffee and the Nutella together in a pot. Then it might work.

Isn’t that such a cute picture? The more marshmallows the better, right? Anyway, I think this is going to be a really cold winter. It’s just the beginning of November and it already feels like January to me. I had to get out my sweaters yesterday; it was freezing, like 42 degrees freezing. Now would be a really nice time to visit my grandmom in Florida. I bet they’re having some beautiful weather down there. I heard it was snowing in Boston yesterday. I never remember it snowing in November! Remember last winter it didn't stop snowing until almost the end of May? And now winter is starting on the first of November.  This would be perfect weather for Elsa, because the cold never bothered her anyway. If she does pay a visit to us I really hope she brings Olaf! Olaf is my favorite character, he's just so warm and optimistic. I think everyone needs a person, or should I say snowperson, like him in their life.

I should crop out Hans, shouldn't I?

Okay, now that we’ve got that out of the way let’s discuss another issue. I have filmers block! I don’t know what this week’s video should be about. I need some requests! You can tweet me, Instagram me, comment on YouTube, comment on here. Don’t be shy to request a video : )  I was going to do a shea butter review, but then I ran out of it and I need to order more, so that has to wait. And then I was thinking about doing a Rainbow Loom tutorial, but then my sisters decided that they want to start their own channel. So watch out for that! We’re going to have a second channel. We thought of calling it A & A’s Rainbow Loom Creations, but I’m not sure if that sounds right. If you have any other ideas for a name it would mean so much if you could comment below and let us know (ooh, that rhymes).

And also! I almost forgot, the last thing I want to talk about are these boots, because I mean this is a girl’s blog so I have to talk about fashion. So, I purchased these from Charlotte Rousse and they are so cute! These are my first pair of combat boots and honestly I wasn’t sure if I would like them because I ordered them online. I didn’t know if they would look cheap or feel hard in the inside, so it was a risk that I was willing to take because they are gorgeous.

I looked at so many other styles from so many different places and I liked these the most. I think it’s because I don’t have expensive taste at all. So, if you’re looking for some cute combat boots for a really cheap price then you should check these out. Aaand that’s about it for now. I’ll try to post more often. I just need to organize my time better. Ever since I started homeschooling it’s hard to do everything in one day, I feel like there is just so much do to, so little time.

How to Make Homemade Caramel

A couple of weeks ago I posted a recipe for Brownie with Caramel and Pretzel Crust. That recipe calls for caramel (obviously) so if you don't have any caramel at home here's a quick and easy recipe.

Ingredients:

5 tablespoons Sugar

1/8 cup Milk

2 Tablespoons Butter

Directions:

1. Pour the 1/8 cup of milk in a small pot and let it heat

2. When the milk starts to heat add in the butter until it is completely melted

3. Add the sugar and let the caramel heat on the stove for 3-5 minutes, or until it gets to a thick caramel consistency.

Here's a video to show you how to make it

Brownie with Caramel & Pretzel Crust

A couple of months ago I was on Pinterest and I came across this brownie recipe, but I couldn't find it again when I went looking for it. So I just kind of made up my own recipe because it's super easy. Basically what it is is brownie with a pretzel crust and a caramel topping. You can't really see the caramel in the picture because it's really just drizzled within the brownie. I made This for the first time about a week ago and it was so amazing I had to share it with you guys, And I made it again about two days ago for my family, they loved it.

I had to quickly sneak away a nice piece to get a picture of it. Haha. They were devouring it like hawks. And the first time I made this (in the video) I used store brought caramel, but this time I made my own homemade caramel and that really did make a difference. The caramel with the fudgy chocolateyness with the salty pretzel is like the best combination of flavors man has ever created. Now let me give you this amazing recipe so you can judge for yourself.

Ingredients:

1 or 2 boxes of brownies (depends on how thick you like your brownies and what size pan you are using) and whatever ingredients you need to make the brownies. (usually eggs, milk, and oil)

2 cups of crushed pretzels

1/4 cup of butter

1/2 cup Caramel (store bought or homemade)
recipe coming soon

Directions:
1.  Set oven temp. to 350 degrees

2. In a medium sized bowl, crush pretzels

3. Add butter to the 2 cups of pretzels. Mix until combined well and set aside.
4. Follow the directions on the back of the brownie mix box to make the brownies (don't bake)

5. Pour the pretzel crumbs into the pan and flatten it out. Make sure the crumbs are spread out evenly.

6. Pour the brownie mix over the pretzel crust.

7. Drizzle caramel all throughout the unbaked brownies

8. Bake for 20 minutes or until you can poke a toothpick into the brownie and it comes out clean.

Prefer to skip the reading and just watch me do it? Here's a video :)
Be sure to thumbs up and subscribe if you like this recipe.

Peach Cupcake Recipe

I don't know why I've never made peach cupcakes before. Maybe because I was just so obsessed with the peach cobbler that I used to make a lot. Anyway, I want to get really good at decorating cupcakes, so I went online and I went browsing, looking at cupcake recipes on Pinterest. I was looking for really unique cupcake recipes that people would want to buy. Then I came across these peach cupcakes. They aren't really unique, but peach cupcakes sounded really good to me and I never tried them before. So, I thought let me take a chance and try out these cupcakes. And, wow! They are delicious. Little did I know. These cupcakes are so moist and flavorful. And it's crazy because most of the ingredients are so basic. Except for the buttermilk. I think buttermilk really makes cakes moist. And also yogurt. I've never tried yogurt in my cupcakes before but, I've tasted cakes that had their butter substituted for yogurt and it really does make a difference.

Anyway, i'm getting off subject. For these cupcakes I was meant to put a teaspoon or so of mint extract, but I didn't have that so I just used vanilla extract instead. I can't imagine how mint extract might taste in cupcakes, but it might be good so if you try it then be sure so tell me how you liked it in the comments below. Okay, enough blabbering. Here's the recipe.

Instructions:
    1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Line a cupcake tin with wrappers.
    2. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
    3. In a separate bowl, beat together the butter and sugar on medium for 3-4 minutes.
    4. Add eggs, beating between each addition. Add lime zest and mint extract.
    5. Add dry ingredients, a little at a time, alternating with the buttermilk until thoroughly combined. Do not overmix.
    6. Fill liners with batter and drop in diced peaches.
    7. Bake for 25 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
    8. For frosting, beat butter until fluffy in a mixing bowl on medium.
    9. Add sugar 1 cup at a time, mixing thoroughly.
    10. Add juices and coloring. Beat on medium for 2-3 minutes or until fluffy
    11. Frost cupcakes and garnish with mint sprigs and peach slices!

Books, Books, Books!!

Lately I've been reading so much! Because it's the summer time, I have nothing else better to do with my time so why not. Friends have lent me books, I've been reading on Wattpad and I've also bought a couple of books from the books store and Amazon. And please don't even get me started with the book store thing. *sighs* The book store really is like a book lovers heaven.
I'm gonna be honest with you guys though, I just recently became a bibliophile. What's a bibliophile you ask?? Well here's the definition. I found it online so it must be right.
Yep, that's it. I used to love books so much when I was a little kid and then as I got older I kind of lost interest because I didn't really know what kind of books I liked (and I kind of thought I was too cool for books. Yes, I was a very foolish tween). And then one day I met this awesome girl. She's a crazy book lover too.  She had sooo many books and she just wouldn't stop talking about how much she loved books so I thought "Hmm, let me just...try." So while no one was looking I picked up a book and read like the first two pages and I was so hooked I was like "You have to let me borrow this book!!" And of course she lent it to me because book lovers want to convert as many people as possible to book-loverism. And that amazing book was called Legend by Marie Lu.

I know I mentioned this book before in my previous book post, but I just had to mention it again. I will never forget the first sentence in this book "My mom thinks i'm dead." I was hooked from the first sentence. I really want to know when somebody's gonna make a movie out of this book. Like, I've been waiting for 13 months!! Please people get the word out! I can't wait anymore. I saw the third book Champion in Barnes and Noble and I almost started crying!

Okay, so now let's talk about the books I've read this summer. The Maze Runner! I'm sure you've heard about it by now. The movie is coming out Sept. 19th, 2014 in the USA. It probably comes out earlier in other countries. It's always like that -_- But, anyway I can't wait to watch it. I love how they casted it. The cast is perfect! So, yep that book is amazing. I love it so much. In my opinion it kind of started off slow. I didn't get hooked until like the 4th chapter. But, it was definitely worth the wait!

I bought the second book (The Scorch Trials)
a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't start it yet because I had started reading some other books that my friend had lent me before I bought it.

My friend lent me two books. One:

Yes! Yas! Percy Jackson! I finally started reading it and it's so amazing. The writer Rick Riordan, he's amazing! I don't know how he does it. And the book is so funny. I'm about halfway through it right now and I'm loving it. I definitely plan on buying the entire collection and the second series. And the second book she lent me is The land of Stories by Chris Colfer. Yes. Chris Colfer as in Kurt Hummel from Glee! I didn't even know he wrote books. I was so shocked!

Actually I started reading this book first (before I started reading Percy Jackson), but then I discovered that it was the second book and I felt kind of, I don't know, left out or something because I didn't read the first book first. So, I think I'm going to buy the first book and read that first and then start on this book again. It's really good though. It's beautifully written.

And last, but definitely not last, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I never finished my review for this book because when I wrote my last book post I was only halfway through it. Honestly, I was taking so long to finish this book because I was afraid to finish it. Thanks to Tumblr and Pinterest I already knew about the tragic ending. I don't want to spoil it for you guys who haven't read the book yet so let's just say that after I read that book I had puffy eyes, a snotty nose and buckets of tears. It was so beautiful the way he ended the book. It was sooo beautiful. You have to read it! If you read it be sure to comment or tweet me (@asdoc_)  and we can grieve together. Also comment below telling me your favorite books so I can read them and do a review on them and even give you a shoutout :)
